Day 2: Drive Cochin – Munnar

Munnar, the queen of hill stations, is located at the confluence of three mountain streams namely, Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. The town was once the summer resort of the British government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns and winding lanes make this a popular destination. There are various plantations: tea, coffee, cardamom and other spices, dense forests and wildlife sanctuaries. It is home to the highest growing tea in the world and offers stunning views. This town is a perfect getaway from the maddening crowds of the cities.
A walk through the aromatic tea gardens, scenic hills covered with green foliage and a camera in hand – there cannot be a better way to spend your evening! This breath-taking haven is the perfect place to pause your life to gather and cherish nature’s matchless beauty.

Day 3: Munnar – Madurai

Madurai, the second largest city of Tamil Nadu, is an important cultural and commercial center. With a history dating back to the 6th century BC, it was once the seat of Tamil learning and still the place where the Tamil language is spoken in its purest form. It was well-known to the Greeks and Romans with whom the city carried on active trade. The old city was planned in the shape of a lotus with the Meenakshi temple, the town’s main attraction, at the centre. And thus, we welcome you to South India’s greatest temple town – Madurai.
Synonymous with the celebrated Meenakshi Temple and is world famous for her rich Tamil culture, she is like a beautiful gem of South. The temple complex is a city within a city and one can spend days exploring its labyrinthine corridors and halls. Associated with many fascinating stories about the mighty Meenakshi temple, Madurai makes us believe that myth or faith really doesn’t matter here, but she is just home to many legends.

Day 4: Madurai – Periyar

Thekkedy is South India’s most popular wildlife sanctuary, covering an area of 777 sq. kms. Set on the attractive manmade Periyar Lake, it attracts several visitors a year. Though the sanctuary was made a part of Project Tiger in 1973, it is better known for its elephants. Evening, visit of Kumily and go around for walk (without guide).

Day 5: Enjoy a Boat ride & drive to Kumarakom

Our representative will come and pick you at the designated time for you to enjoy a boat ride on Lake Periyar, a manmade lake. See the wildlife on the banks of the lake between the shore and the forest edge. Spot birds as well. Later drive to Kumarakom.

Day 6: A night at the Houseboat

Kumarakom is a serenely beautiful and scenic backwater destination, a charming peninsula jutting into the Vembanad Lake. Here an old rubber plantation around the lake has been developed into a bird sanctuary. A path goes through the swamp to the main nesting area, while the island in the middle of the lake can be reached by boat. On arrival, board the houseboat and sail through the narrow channels of lake Vembanad.
