HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Explore Kolkata – the city of amiable contrasts, getting to know more about its history and culture.
  • In Bodhgaya visit the Mahabodhi Temple which houses the Bodhi (Fig) Tree under which the Buddha gained enlightenment some 2540 years ago. Visit the ruins of the 5th century Nalanda University – the ancient seat of Buddhist learning and the first residential school in the world, which once housed around 2,000 teachers and 10,000 students.
  • In Varanasi, witness the evening aarti (prayer ceremony) by the river Ganga. Visit Sarnath, where the Buddha gave his first sermon. Wake up at the crack of dawn for an early morning boat-ride on River Ganga.
  • In Khajuraho Spend the morning admiring the stunning architecture of the temples, which are the largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples in India, famous for their erotic sculptures.
  • In Agra enjoy a walk with the resident of the Cantonment for an insight into the life and times of colonial Agra. Visit the Agra Fort and the Taj Mahal during sunset.
  • In Jaipur, start the day with a visit to the 16th century Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the rest of the day exploring the main sites of the city.
  • In Delhi, visit the Qutab Minar, the magnificent 12th century minaret, a UNESCO World Heritage. Next day visit Jama Masjid, the Grand Mosque in Old Delhi and take a rickshaw ride through its narrow lanes in the morning. Post lunch, visit the 16th century Humayun's Tomb, the first garden tomb of Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the 12th century village of Hazrat Nizamuddin that grew around the shrine of a Sufi saint.
  • In Amritsar, while visiting the Golden Temple spend time in the Community Kitchen, manned entirely by volunteers, which feeds up to 100,000 people free, every day. Post dinner join the pilgrims to witness the ‘Going to Bed Ceremony’ where the holy book of the Sikhs, considered a living master, is taken to its resting place for the night. Alternatively next day witness the ‘morning ceremony’ when the holy book of the Sikhs is taken out from its resting place, amidst a showering of rose petals, and taken inside the temple.
  • In Mumbai, wake up at the crack of dawn to experience a rising city and its industrious people as they wake up and go about at their tasks. In the afternoon, explore the main sights of the city.
  • Fly to Goa for a lovely, enjoyable and relaxing three nights by the beach. Spend time relaxing on the beach, the pool or the spa.
  • Come back to Mumbai to connect your International Flight for onward journey.
