Our Timeline
1963
Sita opened its first office in New Delhi, establishing itself as a reliable and efficient travel and tourism company known for integrity and top-quality service.
1972
Sita launched its first overseas office in Paris, followed by expansions into Milan, Frankfurt, London, New York, Stockholm, Barcelona, and Lisbon.
1982
Sita expanded its services to include Sri Lanka.
1984
With the opening of an office in Nepal, Sita became the only travel agency with a presence in three SAARC countries.
1993
Sita transitioned into a fully owned Indian public limited company, rebranded as Sita World Travel (India) Ltd.
1994
A dedicated team of nearly 800 trained travel professionals delivered round-the-clock service across a network of 30 branch offices in key tourist destinations.
1995
Over two decades, Sita experienced remarkable growth, with foreign exchange earnings showing impressive and unprecedented increases.
2015
Sita became a fully owned subsidiary of Thomas Cook India Limited, itself owned by Fairfax Financial Holdings, a Toronto-based financial services company.
2025
Today, Sita stands as India’s leading Destination Management Company and the most awarded travel company in the country.
