Art of Travel - Sita

MONTHLY MUSINGS

What's New

Travel is the best teacher in life. It has a way of breaking us up and rebuilding that is transformative in its truest sense. In September, when schools reopen in the western worlds, India honours her teachers on a day specially reserved for them. 05 September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day across India in honour of the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, India’s second President who was himself a learned scholar and a great advocate of learning.

Much like how a good teacher can mould your perceptions in the formative years of your life, travel also helps you learn more about yourself, breaks prejudices, and makes you more aware of the world that you live in. That is why, on the month that honours teachers, we also pay homage to the spirit of wanderlust as a mentor who helps us become a holistic being. We will also be observing World Tourism Day this month (27 September) with hopes that we will be able to welcome guests into our colourful and historic nation soon. We wholeheartedly support this year’s theme of ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ that is also a major part of our sustainability measures.

September also marks the prelude to the festival extravaganza that is to come later. In Kerala, people celebrated Onam with great joy and splendour to mark good harvest and happiness. It also has a mythical lore attached to it that goes back many centuries. We will also be celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the most important festivals in Maharashtra in honour of Lord Ganesha who is served delicious sweet dumplings (his favourite) as offerings.

Once September ends, and the hint of morning chill hits the air, there is palpable excitement amongst people as the festive season is upon them. Come October, we will tell you more about the festivals that Indians look forward to all year. For now, we hope you enjoy what we have brought for you in this month’s issue.

Happy Reading!

Cheers!
